Jim French, the voice actor behind the character Bill in the Left 4 Dead series, has passed away at the age of 89.

French provided the voice for Bill in the first Left 4 Dead and later reprised the role for the character’s appearances in DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 and Payday: The Heist.

His other video game credits include the Scientist in Gunman Chronicles, Father Grigori in Half-Life 2, the Fisherman in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, and the Elder Titan in Dota 2.

Long before lending his vocal talents to video games, French made a name for himself in radio as early as the 1950s. He wrote and produced over 800 shows for radio during his career, many of which were distributed across the country under his production company’s Imagination Theatre brand.
