OverTheEdge has announced the release of version 1.0.2 of if its game design platform Unity for the Apple Mac, including a fully-featured graphics engine and game physics/scripting system. Unity, which is made specifically for Mac OS X and produces Mac-only games for now, with Windows and Internet Explorer versions of Unity-constructed games due out in the near future, includes the Novodex Physics Engine, a custom graphics engine, game scripting is done with an open-source implementation of .NET. The engine comes with two versions, Unity Pro, and Unity Indie, and is already being used to produce games including GooBall, published for Mac by Ambrosia Software, and in universities such as the Parsons School of Design in New York. "We have always wanted to change the way the game industry looks today where it requires a ridiculous amount of money to make PC and Mac games. With the release of version 1.0.2 of Unity, our flagship product is finally ready for the mass market," commented OverTheEdge CEO David Helgason.
