Nintendo officials have announced that sales of Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire (essentially Pokémon 3) have passed the 5 million mark in Japan alone. The games have also sold several million copies in the West, proving that although there may have been a drop in sales for related merchandise from the series, the core video game brand is still going strong.
