Casual game developer PopCap Games has announced the forthcoming launch of two new "greatest hit" retail console collections of its games with PopCap Arcade Volume 1 for Xbox 360 and PopCap Hits Volume 1 for the PlayStation 2. PopCap says both of the collections are important console milestones, with the Xbox 360 Arcade collection marking the first time the company has done a retail launch of its titles for Microsoft's console. The PlayStation 2 Hits collection also marks the first time any of the developer's games have been released for the console. According to the company, Arcade will feature, fittingly, a collection of titles previously launched over Xbox Live Arcade, including Bejeweled 2, AstroPop, Feeding Frenzy and Zuma. Hits will offer Bejeweled 2 and AstroPop at a budget pricepoint for the PlayStation 2. Said PopCap retail sales director Glenn Drover, “We’re very excited to be bringing some of our top million-selling casual games to consoles via retail shelves, and eager to see how consumers respond. We’ve had tremendous success at retail with the PC versions of many of our games, and these new collections for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 are priced even more aggressively, so they should be a hit with holiday shoppers.”
