Middleware developers Emergent have announced that Russian PC game developer and publisher Play Ten Interactive has licensed Emergent's Gamebryo engine for use in upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles. The first title to emerge from this deal will be The Wall, Russia's first multiplatform next-generation title to be developed using Gamebryo. The game will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will feature elements of the first-person shooter, role-playing, and real-time strategy game types. According to Play Ten, Gamebryo is “the only development engine flexible enough to support these popular genres.” Part of the larger Emergent Elements family of game development software, Gamebryo is optimized for development on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The tool has already been enlisted by several companies for their next-gen projects, including Bethesda Softworks' multiplatform RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. “There are many choices out there for game development engines; however Emergent’s Gamebryo Element is unmatched. Only Emergent offered us a complete and flexible set of existing and upcoming tools and services to make the PC to console transition so smooth,” said Dmitri Kruglov, CEO of Play Ten. “We look for partners with bright ideas and pioneering technologies, Emergent gives us the flexibility we need as we break ground in Russia.”
