The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
The newly-slimlined PlayStation 3 has been outselling both the Xbox 360 and the Wii in Australia since it launched there on September 3, moving more than 60,000 new units to date.
Although it's got a ways to go if it wants to be Australia's top console, the newly-slimlined PlayStation 3 has been outselling both the Xbox 360 and the Wii since it launched in the region on September 3. "I can confirm that in excess of 60,000 units of the PS3 120GB have been sold since launch," a Sony spokesperson told consumer news site GameSpot. "I can also confirm that since the launch of the new model on September 3 [in Australia], total sales for the period since introduction have outperformed our competition," the rep added. The strong performance of the PS3 in Australia contrasts with the PSP Go's very soft launch there -- the handheld sold only 1,000 units in its first week, while the PS3 is selling at about 10,000 units weekly at $50 more. To continue driving userbase expansion, Sony is reviving a popular promotional tie-in with its Bravia LCD televisions -- those who buy one of the TVs from October 22 on will get a free PS3 Slim, with delivery guaranteed by Christmas. The promotion will end when the 25,000-unit PS3 supply is exhausted.
