A report in British trade paper MCV has suggested that both the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable (PSP) consoles are pencilled in for a 18th March release date in Europe. However, the sources for this information are not clear and nor is it clear whether either Sony or Nintendo representatives were aware of the potential clash before this time. Mid-March is the preferred time for a console launch in Europe though, when immediately before Christmas becomes impossible, with both the Game Boy Advance SP and Xbox launching in the pre-Easter run up. Although the PSP and DS outwardly appear similar products both are aimed at quite different markets with the PSP expected to have a price tag of at least €300 ($360) and the DS as little as €149 ($180).
