Shanghai-based game company Radiance Software has licensed development tools from Emergent, and is using Emergent's Gamebryo engine in its upcoming free-to-play kart racer Go-Go Racer. The license includes Gamebryo itself as well as the more recently-released Gamebryo LightSpeed, intended for rapid prototyping and iteration. Radiance said it made the choice in part because of past experience with Gamebryo tech on the part of its CEO, Monte Singman, as well as Emergent's existing familiarity with worldwide publishers. "In my past experience at a large studio in China we used Emergent's tech and created numerous games with this flexible technology," Singman said in a statement. "Emergent has used their network to introduce our games to potential publishers which has expanded our breadth of exposure to the international games market. We are extremely happy with the continued support to our business, even after the sale, which is the true test of a partnership rather than just a vendor/customer relationship." Described as a "casual, 3D off-road racing game," Go-Go Racer is set to enter a beta phase in the near future.
