The Xbox Live Arcade motorcycling game Trials HD has sold over 300,000 units in about a month, developer RedLynx said on Wednesday, making it "one of the best-selling" XBLA games of the year. Trials HD launched on Microsoft's digital distribution service on August 12, and garnered positive reviews from critics. Players race against the clock in the physics-based game where ramps, loops, explosives, and other obstacles stand between the start and finish lines. "It’s a remarkable and proud moment for us to have Trials HD as one of the highest ranked games among Xbox Live Arcade users, and one of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade games this year," said RedLynx CEO Tero Virtala in a press statement. RedLynx is also behind titles such as Reset Generation for N-Gage and Windows and Monster Trucks Nitro for PC, Mac, and iPhone. Virtala said the multiplatform developer employs 25 people. "…This is an excellent example of how digital download space opens up significant opportunities that might not otherwise be available for creative and talented smaller teams,” he added. Microsoft said this week that its "Summer of Arcade" XBLA program boosted revenues for the service up 200 percent. Trials HD, along with Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex and Capcom's Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 led sales during the promotion. The three games were also among the top five highest opening week sales ever on XBLA, Microsoft said. By comparison, the XBLA exploration platforming game Shadow Complex sold 200,000 in its first week.
