Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list. This week brings the North American premieres of Resident Evil 5 and MadWorld. Gamers in Europe will soon receive Suikoden: Tierkreis, as Japan gets Phantom Brave Wii and Resistance: Retribution. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending March 14th, 2009. Games Released in the United States:
Capcom's survival horror sequel Resident Evil 5 headlines this week's offerings on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while Wii owners get PlatinumGames' stylish action title MadWorld. Also premiering on the Wii this week are new versions of the GameCube titles Mario Power Tennis and Pikmin, both of which have been enhanced with Wii-specific control schemes. On portables, the Nintendo DS will see the Xseed-published RPG Avalon Code, while the PSP gets a port of the first title in Gust's Mana Khemia series. Games Released in Europe:
European gamers will get an early look at the Konami-developed RPG Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry this week. The U.S. version of the game (to be retitled Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times) will not see release until May. The UK will also host the worldwide English-language debut of Suikoden: Tierkreis this week, along with other region-exclusive releases like Job Island: Hard Working People and Sam Power: Footballer. As Wii owners in the United States get a remade Wii edition of Pikmin this week, Japanese gamers will see a new version of Pikmin's sequel. The Wii also receives a remake of Nippon Ichi's Phantom Brave this week, along with localized versions of We Cheer and Sonic and the Black Knight. Japanese PSP releases include Resistance: Houfuku no Koku (to be released next week in other regions as Resistance: Retribution) and a pair of ports for the PC adventure titles Ever17: The Out of Infinity and Never7: The End of Infinity. Meanwhile, the DS will receive the dating sim Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side: 1st Love Plus, RPG sequel Annie no Atelier: Sera Shima no Renkijutsushi, and the Nintendo-published puzzle title Rittai Picross.
