Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios will lay off 20 employees in the next three months, according to media reports. GamesIndustry.biz first learned of the layoffs -- which aren't nearly as severe as staff losses late in 2008. Altogether, the studio's seen nearly 100 employees laid off in the past six months, but Avalanche CEO Christopher Sundberg maintains the development of Eidos-published Just Cause 2 remains unaffected. The game is expected to show at E3 in June. "As any other company we need to manage risks and sometimes that unfortunately means that we have to give notice and lay off staff," says Sundberg. "It's not more complicated than that." The studio is also developing The Hunter for Emote games and, reportedly, a third unannounced project in development for an unknown publisher.
