Kenji Eno, musician and infamously maverick Japanese game designer (D2) is currently working on next-generation video game content with his new studio From Yellow To Orange (fyto), which has the enigmatic Eno as its president and CEO, according to information received by Gamasutra. With his previous company Warp, Eno produced innovative games such as the audio-only title Real Sound for Sega Saturn, and the Dreamcast launch title D2, an interactive cinema experience. Fumito Ueda, famed designer of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, reportedly once worked for Warp, which boasted a staff of only five. After D2, Warp left the game industry, becoming Superwarp, which focused on non-game entertainment industries. Superwarp closed in 2001, and fyto was born. The company is located in the fashion-conscious Tokyo district of Shibuya, and until recently, focused on mobile, CD, and DVD non-game content. With the next generation ramping up quickly, reports indicate that fyto may be returning to games, hence Kenji Eno's appearance at the E3 Expo this year - the official From Yellow To Orange website only cryptically mentions that the company "will be on your side…" Gamasutra met Eno briefly during E3, during which time he professed that he was "making a brand new game." When asked what type of game it would be, he would only say "It will be for a console with a new control device," thereafter waving his hands about in the air very clearly as though he were using a Wii controller. However, Eno's fyto has not yet officially announced its current project - but expect to hear more on the subject from this unusual company in the coming months.
