Rodriguez Appointed Temporary Atari CFO

Atari has announced that Atari vice president and controller Arturo Rodriguez has temporarily assumed the role of chief financial officer following the departure of Infogrames founder and CEO Bruno Bonnell. Bonnell, whose Infogrames was the parent company of Atari, also served as Atari's chairman, director, CFO and CEO. Bonnell announced he was leaving Infogrames in April following the completion of the company's global debt restricting plan. Rodriguez has been with Atari since June of 2000, when he joined as senior manager of financial reporting, and has also served as director of accounting, assistant controller of accounting and vice president of accounting. Rodriguez will continue to hold his position as vice president and controller while Atari continues to search for a permanent CFO. Earlier this month the company announced that its board has approved and executed a restructuring of its workforce that will see an overall employee reduction of 20 percent, including a 26 percent reduction in administrative positions. Said Atari president and CEO David Pierce at the time, "We expect that today's reorganization will continue to reduce Atari's general and administrative cost. These actions, though difficult, are a significant first step in reorganizing Atari and demonstrate our commitment to restoring shareholder value."
