Russia will create a government-backed trade body for game industry professionals by the end of October 2009, as the nation prepares to hold a new Government-backed developer conference. The formation of the National Russian Association of Game Industry, and the establishment of the "All-Russian Conference on Game Industry", is aimed at staking out a position for the nation among global game development. The purpose of the conference, according to the announcement, is "creating a communication platform to get in touch with official organizations and business representatives from the international games industry." Russia's game industry has historically been fairly insular, with a primary focus on PC titles, but the establishment of the trade body and event is aimed at globalization. The country's Federal Agency for Management of Special Economic Zones, the State Academy of Innovations, and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation announced the event, saying they hoped to reach out to other worldwide trade bodies. The All-Russian Conference on Game Industry take place in the Dubna October 27 to 29, and the organizers have set up a LinkedIn page for interested parties.
