Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from September 10th, 2009, find The Beatles: Rock Band leading software sales across multiple platforms in the United States, while Love Plus and Tomodachi Collection remain big sellers in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. The Beatles: Rock Band (MTV Games), 2. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 3. The House of the Dead: Overkill (Sega), 4. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo). Japan: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Monster Hunter 3 Classic Controller Bundle (Capcom), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 5. EA Sports Active (EA Sports). UK: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. The Beatles: Rock Band (EA Games), 5. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision). After spending a month and a half and the top of the Wii sales charts in North America, Wii Sports Resort is finally dethroned this week by Harmonix's premiering band simulation title The Beatles: Rock Band. The instrument peripheral-bundled Special Value Edition of The Beatles: Rock Band also sees big sales numbers in its U.S. debut week, while a recent "Deal of the Day" price drop at Amazon puts Sega's The House of the Dead: Overkill ahead of Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii in the domestic sales rankings. Xbox 360 North America: 1. The Beatles: Rock Band (MTV Games), 2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Eidos), 3. The Beatles: Rock Band -- Limited Edition Premium Bundle (MTV Games), 4. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision), 5. High School Musical 3: Senior Year -- Bundle with Mat (Disney). Japan: 1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Square Enix), 2. Dream C Club (D3 Publisher), 3. Dream C Club -- Special Edition (D3 Publisher), 4. Grand Theft Auto IV -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection, 5. Gears of War -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Microsoft). UK: 1. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Eidos), 2. Colin McRae: DIRT 2 (Codemasters), 3. Guitar Hero 5 -- Guitar Bundle (Activision), 4. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision), 5. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar). While the Nintendo Wii version of The Beatles: Rock Band premieres as this week's biggest-selling title in the United States, the Xbox 360 edition also emerges as a strong seller in its debut week. The Xbox 360 version of The Beatles trails close behind Wii Sports Resort as the region's third-best selling game across all platforms, and finishes first among competing Xbox 360 titles. Xbox 360 owners have also shown great interest in The Beatles: Rock Band's Limited Edition Premium Bundle, which includes replica instrument controllers and retails for $249.99. Guitar Hero 5 falls to fourth place in its wake, while Batman: Arkham Asylum holds steady at second place. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. The Beatles: Rock Band (MTV Games), 2.
