With its line of high-end 3D-ready Bravia televisions set to launch, Sony's hoping to tie in stereoscopic 3D gaming on its PlayStation 3 as part of its push to drive adoption of the technology in consumer homes. In an interview on the official PlayStation site, SCE Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida gave an indication of just how wide the preparations are: "Almost all [Worldwide Studios] developers are researching how they can incorporate stereoscopic 3D technology into their games," he said. "As these techniques are developed and shared among developers, we’ll see more games utilizing this cool new perspective," he added. However, initiatives to add 3D to existing titles is a more complex proposition, according to Yoshida. He claims "it is much more difficult to do as the game engine has already been developed and in most cases the development team has moved on to new titles." Concluded the exec: "It is always better to adopt new technology into new titles, as the content can be created with stereoscopic 3D effects in mind."
