According to an official statement to the London Stock Exchange, SCi head Jane Cavanagh has stepped down from her role as chairman of the leading British publisher, but will remain the CEO of the company, which owns Tomb Raider creators Eidos Interactive. According to a part of the statement headed 'Segregation of role of chairman and chief executive', Cavanagh will continue as CEO, and it was also noted that Tim Ryan, currently a non-executive Director of SCi, has been appointed as non-executive Chairman with immediate effect, pending the appointment of two further non-executive Directors. No reason or public statement concerning the move has yet been given, but the decision seems to be a fairly routine one, with Cavanagh's continuation in the CEO role granting her the major power she has had since she founded SCi, publisher of Carmageddon and the Conflict series, back in 1988. One of the few top female executives in the business, Cavanagh was praised for overseeing the acquisition of Eidos Interactive and the successful continuation of its major properties. Recent releases such as Tomb Raider: Legend and Hitman: Blood Money have both proven major success on both sides of the Atlantic, apparently securing the future of the last remaining big-budget British publisher in the near-term.
