Independent developer Rebellion is working on a new title based on Twentieth Century Fox's Aliens vs. Predator license for Sega of America and Sega of Europe, the companies announced today. The newest Aliens vs. Predator game will be published in early 2010, Sega says. Along with the announcement, the publisher is "strategically updating" the release timing of the other Aliens titles it has under development. Sega didn't specify what particular titles are affected, nor what specific schedule adjustments it's making. Oxford-based Rebellion's done two games based on the property, notably the original 1999 Aliens versus Predator, and is also known for Sniper Elite. "The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us," says Sega West CEO Naoya Tsurumi. "It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming’s most cherished iconic titles." "By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it, Sega will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans," adds Tsurumi, as Sega promises more details on the new title "very soon." "Sega continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful track record," says Fox L&M New Media senior vice president Gary Rosenfeld.
