After first hinting at the title in May, Sega has revealed that it will be publishing Space Siege, a PC action-RPG developed by Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander), in for North America and Europe in the first quarter of 2008. Taking place inside a colonization ship called Armstrong after an attack on earth by an unknown alien race, Space Siege will follow the story of cybernetics engineer Seth Walker as he attempts to save the human race. Sega and Gas Powered say the game will incorporate "innovative cybernetic augmentations into its storyline," as players choose how much of Seth's "original humanity" will remain intact, or how much cybernetic replacement they will augment onto his body, at the risk of "alienating Seth from the people he’s trying to save." The companies say the choices will play into a dynamic storyline, with NPCs reacting and interacting with the player differently to the choices they make, concluding in various story resolutions. Apart from the single player campaign, the game will also feature a co-op multiplayer mode for up to four players to take on a "completely unique mission structure." Said Sega of America marketing VP Scott A. Steinberg, “Chris Taylor and his talented team at Gas Powered Games are recognized as leading innovators in the industry. Space Siege promises to be a compelling and innovative successor to the very popular Dungeon Siege franchise.”
