Hewlett-Packard announced today at Siggraph that it will soon offer HP Remote Graphics, software that enables remote collaboration between users in 3D graphics-intensive fields. The software allows parties to share large data files with remote users. Receivers will be able to view high-resolution graphics with the software, without upgrading their 3D graphics cards. The system also does not send any source code to the receiver as a safety measure. HP Remote Graphics will be available in October, company officials said today, starting at $399 for HP systems, which will include both receiver- and sender-side software. Supported systems include HP-US 11.0 or later, Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP, and Red Had Linux platforms.
