Softimage Ships Softimage XSI 4.0

Softimage today announced the immediate availability of Softimage XSI 4.0, the latest version of its 3D animation and rendering package. Customers with maintainence contracts can download XSI 4.0 immediately, and CD shipments for new orders will begin next week. Game developers will find several of the enhancments key to their business, such as the integration of the Mental Ray 3.3 rendering engine, integration with Alienbrain Studio, and inclusion (with the Advanced version) of the Syflex cloth simulator. Also of interest for developers is the ability to directly access Digimation's Model Bank model libraries from within XSI. Source: Softimage press release.
