SCEA officials have revealed today that the PS2’s 40Gb hard drive peripheral will be released in the US next March at a price of $99, bundled with a copy of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XI. In addition the company’s own SOCOM II and Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain will also take advantage of the hard drive’s storage capabilities with new downloadable content. The peripheral will also ship with various demos installed, as well as a games manager for browsing stored data, a digital photo management program and a new custom PS2 media player that will be able to play both MP3s and CDs.
