Representatives from S3 Graphics have announced an agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment America for its licensing of the company’s S3TC texture compression technology, for use with the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Nintendo also licenses S3 Graphics texture compression technology for use as part of the GameCube hardware, which helps to minimize the amount of texture information circulating inside the GPU.
