Sony has confirmed that the PSP, the company's upcoming handheld game device, will be released sometime during the second half of 2004.
Chris Deering, president of SCEE, said today that the company is on track for a simultaneous global release of the PSP next year. The PSP will go toe-to-toe with the Game Boy Advance, but will also play music and movies. Deering said games will priced between 20 euros to 60 euros, but offered no indication as to what the PSP itself would cost. He also said Sony plans to increase its marketing and advertising spending in Germany to try and get PC gamers to move over to its console, and indicated that marketing budgets in Sweden and the Netherlands might also increase.
