Sony has joined Nintendo in pledging to debut its next home game console at E3 2005, Reuters reported today. The announcement follows a similar one from Nintendo last month in which the Japanese company said it would unveil the console code-named “Revolution” at the Los Angeles industry conference in May 2005. Meanwhile, Microsoft has not made any moves yet to set a display date for its console successor, Xbox Next, although Hiroshi Kamide, analyst at KBC Securities in Tokyo, expects all three game machines to hit the May 2005 landmark. "It looks like Microsoft is fairly advanced at the moment. The company might have gotten wrong-footed a bit, but it looks like everything is going to turn up at the same time," Kamide said in a Reuters report. Sony officials said that although most sources have dubbed the device “PlayStation 3,” that name is not official, confirming only that it will appear at E3 2005. No sale date has been set at this time.
