Tools developer Spiral Graphics has a new version of its Genetica texture, animation and HDRI environment map editor, including new tools, presets, and new water, fires, and energy effects. The company says the new version includes more than a thousand royalty-free presets and is Genetica's largest update yet, offering a free demo to showcase its new features. Spiral Graphics says Genetica's new drawing tools have been specifically designed with the needs of texture artists in mind, enabling them to add details like doors, windows or graffiti to their textures and apply effects to their designs such as reflections, refractions and environmental lighting, among others. This third edition of Genetica includes an HDRI environment map editor that can generate environment maps and manipulate existing ones, and designers can bake diffusion, light scattering and other effects into their maps. Genetica's Studio edition also adds animation capability to the tool suite. Among the included presets are various water, fire and energy effects, in addition to "exotic" video transitions.
