Sun Microsystem's 2004 Java game development contest--open to independent game developers only--is now underway. The deadline for submissions is June 7, 2004, and winners will be presented at the Sun Java One developer conference on June 28. Prizes offered: Grand Prize One full GameSpy Deployment License and Toolbox Suite, one Athlon 64 3200+ PC, and a copy of the Java Desktop System--a retail value of $45,000. Runner-Up One Athlon 64 3200+ PC and a copy of the Java Desktop System--a retail value of $3,200. Honorable Mention Each Honorable Mention will win a Tapwave Zodiac PDA--a retail value of $300. The judges for the contest will be: Sun Microsystems, Inc., GameSpy, Tapwave, AMD, and Mark DeLoura, founding editor of the Game Programming Gems series from Charles River Media.
