Following yesterday's report that Taiwan-based firm ASUSTeK Computer will deliver the first assembled product PlayStation 3 console to Sony this month, ASUSTeK has warned the media against printing unverified information, but has not directly denied the report. According to a DigiTimes report, the company released a statement to the Taiwanese Stock Exchange alleging "legal action against media for any incorrect reports that jeopardize its relationships with clients", but declined to comment on the actual reports. The original report suggested that the contracted consignment is for 4 million units, with monthly shipments beginning with 200,000 units and increasing to 2 million in October. Fellow Taiwanese company Hon Hai Precision Industry will also begin production of the consoles shortly. In addition, DigiTimes is reporting that the Chinese-language Apple Daily newspaper cited information that ASUSTeK had also issued a gag order forbidding its employees from disclosing any more information, or face dismissal. The production line news, if true, appears to put Sony on course to deliver on its promise of production of one million units a month by November, with six million units by the end of March 2007.
