Developer Telltale Games has announced that the company has signed an agreement with Valve to release Sam & Max: Season 1, Telltale's flagship episodic series, over the Steam digital distribution service. Currently available direct from the Telltale's website and over the subscription-based game distribution network GameTap, Sam & Max is based upon the independent comics created by Steve Purcell. Each Sam & Max episode will be made available over Steam for $8.95, with a 10 percent discount being offered during the first week of release. In addition, Telltale is also offering the first three episodes as a bundle for $19.95, with a similar bundle being offered for episodes 4-6. This news follows an earlier announced agreement with adventure game publisher The Adventure Company to bring the complete "season" of six serialized Sam & Max PC adventure titles to retail worldwide this August. "Digital distribution is clearly a core component of our business and we're really impressed by Valve's approach to the market," stated Telltale CEO Dan Connors. "The Steam folks have a great understanding of how robust online channels can bring new value added content, product expansions and serialized episodes to keep audiences regularly engaged."
