Officials from THQ have announced yet more upcoming titles set in Games Workshop's popular Warhammer 40,000 tabletop war game universe, with Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, a new turn-based strategy game expected to ship this fall for both the Nintendo DS and PSP. While few details have been released concerning the Nintendo DS version of the game, THQ has been more thoroughly detailed the PSP release, noting that Squad Command will feature a 13 mission single player campaign. The PSP version of the game will also feature both local and internet multiplayer gaming with nine different maps supporting up to eight players, and will offer fully destructible, real time 3D battlefields, and over 20 traditional Warhammer 40,000 ranged and close combat weapons. While many additional features, including the bulk of those specific to the Nintendo DS, remain unknown, THQ notes that the games will "fully utilise all the portable functionality of the PSP and the Nintendo DS, including the dual-screen and stylus." “Bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe to handheld systems creates exciting new game play options for fans across the globe,” said Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. “An all-new single-player storyline and the ability to battle head-to-head with anyone in the world make this an exciting addition to the Warhammer 40,000 library.”
