Analysts and investors who've been watching THQ's turnaround with cautious optimism may get an extra boost from the publisher today, as it announces a March 2011 date for the next title in Volition's Red Faction franchise. Red Faction: Armageddon will be the fourth title in the series, and it'll launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in March 2011. It returns players to the Martian battleground, with Darius Mason (grandson of heroes Alec and Samanya) at the story's center. Mason must use new strategic techniques and reconstruction technology to stop an evil unleashed at the core of the planet. The title's predecessor, Red Faction: Guerilla, helped make the franchise a more important presence in THQ's portfolio, as its sales rapidly topped 1 million units in 2009 when it launched.
