Throwback Appoints Former HAL President As CTO

Canadian publisher Throwback Entertainment has announced that it has appointed former president of HAL America Yash Terakura as the company's new chief technology officer, where he will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Throwback's worldwide technological and research efforts. A thirty year industry veteran, Terakura is also recognized for his efforts at Commodore where was an original team member and helped design and engineer the VIC and Commodore 64. Terakura eventually moved on and became the president of HAL America, a subsidiary of HAL Laboratory, and has served as a consultant for firms such as Mattel, Atari, Puma, United Auto, and Mitsubishi. Terakura's appointment comes just weeks following the appointment of former Capcom president George Nakayama as Throwback's chief operating officer. Earlier this year the company also appointed twenty-five year industry veteran David Siller (Aero the Acro-Bat) as its vice president of development, where he oversees the development of original intellectual properties, as well as those properties purchased by the company. Throwback currently owns a number of properties previously owned by Acclaim Entertainment, such as Vexx and Extreme-G Racing. "Many years ago I thought I had closed a chapter on the game industry. Throwback, to me, doesn't offer the beginning of a new chapter, but a whole new book," commented Terakura. “Very quickly in my experience with Throwback, I witnessed something special and unique, it was something that I wanted to be a part of almost immediately." He added: "I'm thrilled at the opportunity to lead Throwback's technological efforts and drive innovation for our customers in this new and exciting generation of interactive entertainment."
