Treyarch has confirmed its involvement in the next Call of Duty game with the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops for a November 9, 2010 launch. The studio first teased the announcement via a new website. In its official announcement, publisher Activision, in the midst of a highly-visible reorganization of the Call of Duty brand, is positioning Black Ops as a "follow-up" to Modern Warfare 2. "Black operatives" are generally intelligence agents capable of working covertly within enemy territories, and they're often associated with unorthodox methods out of the sight of the general public. This small clue in the title may support widespread press rumors that Cold War-era settings like Vietnam will comprise the setting of the game. It won't be long before fans get more clues, however; the global debut of the game's trailer is slated for the Spike channel's GameTrailers TV programming tonight, April 30. "We can't wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops," says Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. "We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts."
