Ubisoft has announced a new game in its Imagine DS series for girls, titled Imagine Rock Star, which allows players to simulate a music career. In Imagine Rock Star, players select who plays the drums, guitar, bass and piano, and each instrument is controlled differently using the DS stylus. Each musician is customizable with various styles, and gameplay revolves around performing in concerts, earning money and climbing the charts. Players can also play wirelessly with up to four friends. Ubisoft says its Imagine series, aimed at allowing girls ages 6 to 14 to explore their favorite interests and hobbies, has sold more than three million units globally. Imagine Rock Star, launching in June 2008, will be the sixth game in the franchise, after Imagine Figure Skater, Imagine Fashion Designer, Imagine Animal Doctor, Imagine Master Chef and Imagine Babyz. Said Ubisoft SVP of marketing and sales Tony Key, “Ubisoft has established itself as the leading publisher for girls and we are extremely pleased with the success of the first series of Imagine games. By allowing them to play, create and dream of the possibilities, Imagine Rock Star strengthens Ubisoft’s position in this category and provides more DS options for young girl gamers.”
