After months and years of often manic speculation by fans, the first screenshots and detailed information on a Nintendo Revolution game are finally to be unveiled in the newest issue of U.S. consumer magazine Game Informer. Due to go on sale on April 20th, the magazine’s website identifies the game as Ubisoft’s Red Steel – possibly the game previously hinted at under the codename of “Katana”. The game is developed by Ubisoft’s Paris team, who have previously been responsible for elements in the Ghost Recon and Rayman series, among others. Scanned images from the magazine, now widely disseminated across the Internet, purport to show a first person adventure with graphics that seem markedly more impressive then many recent scare stories about the console’s abilities may have suggested. The game allegedly involves the use of both ranged weapons and a sword – a suggestion apparently confirmed by Game Informer’s cover image. The issue will also feature an interview with Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison, details of which have also appeared online, and appear to indicate that there will be around 20 launch titles planned for the Revolution's debut later this year, with as many as a third of these being Nintendo first-party games. Thus far, Red Steel is the only game officially announced for the launch of the system, with Nintendo doing little more than hinting at the existence of new entries in franchises such as Super Mario, Super Smash Bros., Pikmin and Metroid Prime. Nonetheless, the Game Informer feature on Red Steel is the first real news ahead of E3 in May, where many more Revolution titles are expected to be unveiled.
