New release The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena has been unable to dislodge Nintendo’s Wii Fit from the top spot in the weekly UK sales charts. The hardware bundle enjoyed its fifth consecutive week at number one in the individual platforms chart and its thirteenth non-consecutive week in the all platforms chart. Despite a fall in sales of 11 percent for Wii Fit it still managed to outsell the launch of Atari’s movie tie-in The Chronicles of Riddick. The Xbox 360 version of Starbreeze Studio’s first person adventure debuted at number two and the PlayStation 3 version at number 13. Although as usual no sales figures are provided for the chart, the market appears generally to be at a low ebb, with the entire top ten seeing a fall in sales. Combined sales of The Godfather II were down 48 percent, Professor Layton and the Curious Village was down 31 percent, and Mario Kart Wii was down 32 percent. Even Resident Evil 5, which saw some upward movement in the chart, experienced an overall decline of 17 percent on the previous week. There are no other new entries in the rest of the top 40, although retailer discounts saw a number of older titles resurface. Left 4 Dead on Xbox 360 re-entered the charts at number 29, while Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (aka Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection) appeared at number 31 on PlayStation 3 and at number 38 on the Xbox 360. Halo 3 re-entered the charts at number 35 and Halo Wars at number 36. Overall, in the top 40 chart by individual platforms, there are 15 titles for the Xbox 360, 10 for the Nintendo DS, seven each for the Wii and PlayStation 3, one for the PC and none for the PSP. In the separate all platforms chart, which combines all SKUs of a game into a single chart position, Wii Fit remains at number one, with The Chronicles of Riddick new at number two and The Godfather II moving down one place to number three.
