The upcoming Level Up charity games competition held during Austin GDC will benefit the ESA Foundation's Scholarship Program, which provides tuition grants to women and minority students studying video games. GameRecruiter hosts the competition, set to take place September 17th alongside the Austin Game Developers Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel. Gamers of all ages will compete on Rock Band 2, Madden 08, I-Play Bowling and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Their $20 competition entry fee per person will go to the ESA's charity. The Foundation scholarships are awarded to under-represented students pursuing their education in video game development, in areas including graphic design, computer science and animation, among others, and are given annually to full-time students at accredited four-year schools. ESA Foundation VP Jenny Lai says, "The ESA Foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of young people. The proceeds of this event will allow us to give back even more and enable students from across the country to pursue studies in computer and video game development and design."
