WiiWare Gets Gyrostarr, VC Adds Alex Kidd, Burning Fight

Nintendo has updated its North American WiiWare shop with one new title, High Voltage’s Gyrostarr (pictured). Nintendo has also added Sega platformer Alex Kidd in Miracle World and SNK beat-em-up Burning Fight to its Virtual Console offerings. Gyrostarr allows up to four players to pilot their ships on up to 50 high-speed tracks, coordinating with each other to destroy enemies while competing for weapon power-ups. Players have to collect energy to activate a warpgate at the end of each track, lest they crash into its closed gate. Gyrostarr's ships can be controller with the Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller, or a paired system with which two players can use a connected Wii Remote and Nunchuk or a single Classic Controller at the same time. Originally released in 1986,Alex Kidd in Miracle World challenges players with traversing 16 different levels to save the title character’s lost brother, Egle, from villain Janken the Great. The platformer includes a “rock, paper, scissors” element when fighting Janken’s henchmen. Alex Kidd in Miracle World was previously posted for Europe’s Virtual Console on June 13th. Debuted on the Neo Geo in 1991, Burning Fight enables up to two players to take on the roles of three detectives - Duke, Ryu, and Billy - as they pursue the leader of a crime syndicate. Each character can use a combination of punches, kicks, jumps, and special moves as they take on the syndicate’s gangs and its stage bosses. All three games are available for download on North America's Wii Shopping Channel, priced at 700 Wii Points ($7) for Gyrostarr, 500 Wii Points ($5) for Alex Kidd in Miracle World, and 900 Wii Points ($9) for Burning Fight.
