Online- and mobile-focused game publisher Zattikka has gained Atomico Ventures as an investor in what Zattikka calls its "oversubscribed" seed round of funding. The news comes on the back of Zattikka's acquisition of Flash game studio and portal Gimme5games from owner Matt Spall last month. No amounts were disclosed in the case of either the Atomico investment or the Gimme5games purchase. London-based Zattikka was founded earlier this year by video game industry veteran Tim Chaney and web veteran Mark Opzoomer. The company says it is "targeting fast track growth via acquisition of development talent and creation of IP for Flash and smartphone." Atomico is the venture capital investment firm headed up by successful internet entrepreneurs Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, who together are responsible for services including Skype, Kazaa, and Joost. Gimme5games was previously owned by Eidos as a result of Eidos' acquisition of casual and mobile developer Morpheme. However, in February of this year, Eidos divested itself of Gimme5games, with Spall reacquiring the company before selling to Zattikka.
