Global game publisher CFK (headed by Chang-sig Koo) is proud to announce that newly remastered gothic horror Touhou action game Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem will release to the globe on Steam and Nintendo Switch™ today(12/14).

 
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem is the sequel to side-scrolling action game Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, a spinoff of the Touhou Project (東方Project) series, beloved by fans around the world.


Following the previous entry into the series, popular illustrator Banpai Akira contributed to this work as well, adding a dark character design to pair with the notable atmospheric sound and gameplay improvements over the previous version of the game. In addition, the extremely talented voice actresses have returned to breathe life into the characters with their voice acting.


In addition to the improvements to the main game, Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem has also been loaded up with a new playable character and a new Boss Rush mode, adding even more for players to enjoy. The game will also feature an Extra Easy mode, a feature praised in the previous game, a Challenge screen where players can check achievements unlocked in the various difficulties, and a Collection screen where players can enjoy the soundtrack and events they’ve been through, all to improve the quality of the gaming experience.

1) Overview
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem is the second installment of an entry into the Koumajou Remilia series, a stand-alone interpretation of the world and characters of the Touhou Project franchise beloved by devoted fans, and based on the Touhou Project’s Perfect Cherry Blossom game.
 
Sakuya Izayoi, one of Remilia’s devoted followers, takes the lead in this game, set to the backdrop of her heading out to the Scarlet Devil Castle in search of news of the vanished Remilia, the inhabitants of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and the spring that won’t come.
 
2) Game features
- A major step forward in stylish action
Protagonist Sakuya Izayoi is skilled at close-range attacks using her blades. Along with the ‘flight’ power that allows players to move freely through the air for a certain amount of time, a ‘backstep’ action has also been added, allowing players to avoid enemy attacks during battle. In addition to that, several special attacks such as ‘Soul Sculpture,’ ‘kick,’ and ‘backstep knife throw’ have been added, allowing players to experience a new, stylish sort of gameplay.
 
- ‘Sub-weapons’ and ‘partner system’ included, elements essential to any strategic playstyle
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem allows players to equip up to three sub-weapons or partners before starting a stage, giving players a chance to read the situation and turn the tides in their favor. Finding the right timing for using sub-weapons and summoning partners will be key to finding a shortcut to clearing each stage.
 
For subweapons, players can select the knife throw Sakuya Izayoi specializes in or a pocket watch that stops time, and they can also summon characters from the Touhou series as partners to face down their enemies. Each partner has a unique set of skills.
 
3. Introducing two new features of Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem
1) Playable character - Reimu Hakurei
Reimu Hakurei, protagonist of the previous game Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, becomes a playable character.
 
Reimu Hakurei, shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine with the ability to float, is slated to appear as a boss who blocks Sakuya Izayoi’s way forward in Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem. Reimu Hakurei uses her whip-like close range ‘purification rod’ and her long range ‘ofuda’ paper charms, both introduced in the previous game, along with her unique emergency ability, ‘sliding,’ which allows her free movement through the air. This planned addition gives players a completely different way to enjoy the game when placed alongside Sakuya Izayoi, the original protagonist.

2) Boss rush mode
In this mode, players will be able to topple all of the Touhou characters that appear as bosses in Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem. There are a number of boss routes lined up, including the Hakurei route and the Scarlet Devil Mansion route, changing up the characters who will appear.
 
- Even more new features
An Extra Easy mode has also been implemented, a feature praised in the previous entry into the series. This will allow even more players to experience the fun packed into Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem, as this mode is available from the beginning of the game. In Extra Easy mode, the HP and attack power of enemies have been reduced.
 
The game will also feature a Challenge screen where players can check achievements unlocked in the various difficulties, and a Collection screen where players can enjoy the soundtrack and events they’ve been through, all to improve the quality of the gaming experience.  
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem was first unveiled to the public last September at the Tokyo Game Show 2022. Gamers were then able to get their hands on a playable demo of Koumajou Remilia 2: Stranger’s Requiem at PlayX4 2023 in May. Since then, the game has been featured in a number of domestic and international game shows and offline events, including TGS 2023 and G-star 2023, bringing in more hype for the coming release.
 
In addition, Koumajou Remilia 2: Stranger’s Requiem participated in the Steam Next Fest, held from October 9th to 16th, and released a demo version, both successfully garnering the attention of players around the world before its release.
 
The Steam version of Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem will also offer special bundles that include the game soundtrack and artbook bunded alongside the main game. With these, players can enjoy the high-quality music featured in-game along with illustrations of the characters that add to the game’s charm, all to help players feel satisfied with their purchases.

● About the Koumajou Remilia series
Koumajou Remilia is a 2D side-scrolling action series, spun off from the globally adored Touhou Project games, and a fan-made remaster of the gothic horror action title first introduced to us by Frontier Aja in 2009. It’s a stand-alone interpretation and expression of the Touhou Project world and characters, having received a great response from fans of the Touhou Project series.
 
The first remake, titled Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, was based on the monumental work Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and released to the globe on Steam and Nintendo Switch™ on July 28th, 2022 through a joint effort by CFK and Frontier Aja.
 
It told the story of protagonist Reimu Hakurei, who headed off to Scarlet Devil Castle in search of the unknown cause of the mysterious events to hit Gensoukyou; and alongside the participation of popular illustrator Banpai Akira, it also featured improved HD graphics and other additional features that improved on the quality of the original game. It also included a variety of languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, and French, and fully-voiced lines from the popular voice actresses the original version lacked.
 
Following the successful global release of Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, Frontier Aja and CFK unveiled the gothic horror Touhou action sequel Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem. It is based on Touhou Project’s Perfect Cherry Blossom game and is slated to be released to the globe on Steam and Nintendo Switch™ on December 14th of this year.
 
The protagonist of Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem is Sakuya Izayoi, one of Remilia’s followers. This game sees Sakuya change from vampire hunter into a protagonist while paying homage to the original story. To fit with current gameplay specs, it is compatible with 1080p Full HD and widescreen monitors, and provides a number of new gameplay features.
