The 2023 PICO Dev Jam is the first-ever global challenge for emerging virtual reality developers. The competition aims to boost the VR ecosystem through the development of innovative virtual reality and mixed reality content, while also nurturing PICO’s growing community of VR developers around the world. The main requirement of the contest was to build or design a demo app (coding implementation) or a design document on various creative ideas that fit within the theme: “Redefining XR: Beyond Imagination, Into Innovation”.
“Sugar Mess - Let's Play Jolly Battle: Chapter II” is the second part of the VR game Sugar Mess - Let's Play Jolly Battle, that will be released as a DLC, and build upon the foundation of Chapter I and take players on an even more exciting and immersive journey. It has been qualified for the North America, South America, Oceania and Pacific region. In addition to the fact that the project became the winner in the games category, it took 5th place in the overall standings in the region.
The game, set in a realm where technology and magic coexist, delves into the concept of "rust in technology," exploring how even the most advanced tools can fall into disrepair and lose their luster. Through the narrative of friendship and betrayal, it highlights the importance of maintaining and evolving technology to ensure its continued effectiveness and positive impact on society.
The Pico Dev Jam 2023 is a global competition for virtual reality (VR) innovations. It had 627 participants worldwide, and the prize fund was $49,500, which was shared by winners from 3 geographical regions, with 5 winners announced in each. Also, winners were awarded in 4 categories, in each region separately.
