Bandai Namco | BERLIN, GERMANY - 16 March 2005 - Atari today announced a deal to publish the epic war title currently under development for personal computer by the team at Illusion Softworks, the highly talented studio responsible for recent award-winning hits Mafia, Vietcong, and the Hidden and Dangerous series.
Centred around a great war between superpowers in the very near future, the game focuses on first person action set within vast battle landscapes. Massive online multiplayer capabilities enhance the sheer scale and dramatic impact of the fire fights and battles within the sprawling, realistic environments. Every building can be destroyed, the landscape is fully deformable, and players can command any of over 25 vehicles in the game, all based on their real-life counterparts and painstakingly designed to scale.
"To be working with Illusion Softworks was always going to be an exciting prospect, but it is made even more so by the sheer scale and ambition of this project," said Jean-Michel Perbet, President, Atari Europe. "The incredible work that the team has produced in the past leaves no doubt that this title will blow people away and set a new standard for the genre on PC."
"At Illusion Softworks we always strive to create the absolute best, and I think this will be clear when people see the game running," said Petr Vochozka, CEO of Illusion Softworks, and development director of the title. "It's a game on a different kind of scale for us, and represents the culmination of what we've been working towards over the years. There are lots of challenges already behind us, and many more ahead, but the exceptional team is equal to the task."
Illusion Softworks, co-founded in 1997 by Petr Vochozka, is located in Brno in the Czech Republic. The studio's mission has always been to develop the best computer games for personal computers and consoles, and with the aim of achieving that goal it has assembled a strong core of exceptional development talent, which shows through in the consistently excellent quality of games it produces.
The game, which will be named shortly, is due for European release within the Infogrames 05/06 fiscal year.
