Bandai Namco | BERLIN, GERMANY - 16 March 2005 - Atari and Spellbound have announced plans to release Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge for personal computer, the follow up to 2001's Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive which garnered popular acclaim and massive sales across Europe and around the world. The second instalment of the Desperados franchise takes players once again to the heart of the old west with a host of new features, gripping gameplay and dramatic environments to bring the realities of the wild frontier into sharp focus for a wholly new interactive experience under the scorching sun. The game is scheduled for release in Q4 2005.
Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge boasts a range of brand new tactical possibilities with the player able to switch on the fly between a top-down isometric view, and a 3rd person perspective for all the thrills of a contemporary action adventure in the evocative setting of the bad old west. This facility creates new gameplay possibilities where, during brawls or gunfights for example, players can choose to take in the action from a distance to gain a strategic advantage, or get down and dirty in the thick of the fight. With the combination of sun-baked, oppressive desert atmosphere, gnarly frontier characterisations, and sumptuous 3D environments showing the best of the west in its wild heydays, Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge is a gun-slinging adventure like no other.
"Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive was a title that connected with a huge audience thanks to the combination of engrossing strategic gameplay and the undeniable romantic appeal of the wild west," said Jean-Michel Perbet, President, Atari Europe. "With Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge the team at Spellbound have set their sights higher and introduced a non-RTS element of 3rd person gameplay which brings the action right up into your face. There's never been a more gripping, or more safe, way to experience the thrill of a desert shoot out at dawn."
Spellbound is one of the oldest independent game developers in Germany and came to global prominence following the success of titles including Airline Tycoon and Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive.
Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge is scheduled for European release on personal computer in Q4 2005.
