FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beetastic (almost) 10th Anniversary edition has been released for the Apple App Store. The original game was made by Zac (age 7), Ella (age 9) and their dad in 2014. Zac and Ella drew the art and designed the original game. For the update Zac, now in high school, has added new art and is spearheading the marketing.

The original game came about when Zac had an idea for an iPhone game called "Bees get dead", where you tilted the phone to control a bee pollinating flowers. Players earn points for each flower and must avoid bad bees. Their dad, a veteran game developer, offered to program the game if Zac and Ella provided art and game design.

John wrote about the experience on Game Developer, which you can read here: https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/how-i-made-a-game-with-my-kids---the-making-of-beetastic

Beetastic then went global - making the the top games list on the App Store in 73 countries. The game became so popular that it even spawned a number of copycat games!

Sadly, the game was removed from the App Store because the game engine was out of date. But now it has been rewritten using the latest Apple development technology.

Revisiting the game, Zac now 16 and in grade 10, and Ella in her first year at University have decided to add 2 new levels, “Space” and the "Aussie Bush". Despite his art skills having improved in the last decade, Zac did his best to copy his 7 year old art style!

Beetastic is available exclusively on the Apple App Store today for free supported by advertising with an option to remove ads with a one time In-App Purchase.
