April 2, 2013 - City State EntertainmentTM announces the launch of its Kickstarter funding campaign for Camelot UnchainedTM (working title), a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in a newly re-imagined version of the Arthurian/ pan-European mythos. Led by online industry pioneer Mark Jacobs, the studio intends to create a highly focused adaptation of the tripartite conflict for which he is widely recognized. The project's core concept encompasses three primary elements, Tri-Realm RvR, housing and a true player-owned economy built upon a rich crafting system.
"Camelot Unchained isn't a game with something for everyone," said Mark Jacobs. "Instead, we're aiming it at a niche audience of dedicated RvR-focused MMORPG players. We've tried very hard to incorporate our community's ideas and suggestions into our pledge rewards, even going as far as show the preliminary tiers in order to get feedback before the start of our Kickstarter."
The 30-day campaign is now online at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/13861848/camelot-unchained with a goal of $2 million. If it's successful, Mark Jacobs will add $2 million himself to the development funding, and other investors will contribute a further $1 million. As befits an MMORPG, the pledge tiers are highly customizable through a system of Founders Points that will allow each backer to select his or her personal favorites from an extensive variety of almost 100 in-game items, skins and other perks, many of which will never be available again. Certain packages are being offered in limited quantities, some also on a non-repeatable basis.
"Our entire team is tremendously excited to launch our Kickstarter campaign," Jacobs stated. "If it funds, we will know beyond any shadow of doubt that there's an audience eagerly waiting for the chance to play our type of game."
