SAN FRANCISCO – December 5, 2024 – Daruma Games, a new San Francisco based independent studio by WB Games veterans Loren Weng and Simon Armstrong, is proud to reveal the team’s debut title, Sol Mates, at PC Gaming Show today.
Arriving to Steam Early Access in 2025, Sol Mates is all about finding a method to madness in moments bursting with unpredictability. This 4-player online and local co-op adventure thrives on chaos, asking players to complete odd jobs across the galaxy and beyond. But with great chaos comes great responsibility: The perils of interstellar travel await as players fight to keep their ship and operation running smoothly, or at least as best they can.

Designed best for short, exhilarating sessions with friends, Sol Mates is mission-based with elements of procedural generation and narrative content. Players encounter vicious pirates, treacherous black holes, explosive decompression, and robots that rarely tip well. As players steer, shield, and blast their way through the stars, they’ll need to work together. Make key narrative and strategic decisions as a united crew; one wrong move, and you might find yourself surrounded by giant alien spiders!

"Coming out of the pandemic, I found people got used to staying at home, and you needed a good reason to entice your friends to come over," said Daruma Games co-founder Loren Weng. "So we made a couch co-op game to be that excuse. Couch co-op is the genre of our childhoods, and even as AAA development has moved away from it, the demand is higher than ever. That said, we live in an age where connectivity is better than ever, so of course, you can play online co-op too."
