DWARF FORTRESS ’ ADVENTURE MODE ENTERS PUBLIC BETA TODAY ON STEAM!

WASHINGTON, APRIL 17, 2024 - Developer Bay 12 Games and publisher Kitfox Games are happy to release today the public beta branch for their ambitious and fan-anticipated, but still early, free Adventure Mode expansion to Dwarf Fortress. The full version of Adventure Mode will be released soon, hopefully in the coming months.

Adventure Mode is the RPG campaign mode of Dwarf Fortress, where players can create a character and freely roam the rich simulated world they have made a home in during their Fortress Mode save or start fresh in a newly generated world. The beta branch can be found on Steam if players go to properties and then betas from Dwarf Fortress in their Steam library. 

Bay 12 previously announced that Adventure Mode would be released in April 2024 during last year’s PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted Edition, but game development realities have made it clear that the team will first need to launch into Beta this month, with the full version coming later this year. 

Adventure Mode also comes with new music for the game by the talented Dwarf Fortress composers Dabu and Simon Swerwer. The soundtrack is now available for purchase on Steam.

The reimagined version of Dwarf Fortress first launched on Steam and Itch.io in November 2022 and has gone on to sell 800,000 copies on Steam with an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ review average.  Dwarf Fortress is available on Steam and Itch.io for $29.99 USD.
