LETCHWORTH, UK: Blaze Entertainment and Crystal Dynamics are proud to announce a new partnership to bring classic games to Evercade cartridges, starting with the iconic franchise - Tomb Raider.

Classic titles from the 32-bit era of console gaming will be coming to Evercade with Tomb Raider Collection 1. Featuring the first three games from the landmark franchise, available on one single Evercade cart. This cartridge will be available to pre-order from April 30th, 2024 and will be released on July 31st, 2024.

Tomb Raider is the game that defined an entire era of 3D gaming and the start of the classic era of Lara Croft’s adventures. Originally released in 1996, this adventure introduced the world to Lara with its exotic landscapes and mythological treasures alongside the genre-defining platforming and puzzle-solving gameplay.

Sequels Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III, from 1997 and 1998 respectively, are also included in the collection in their original 32-bit console form. The games feature many locations from around the world and are offered on Evercade as the complete games as they were when first released. All games use the Evercade interface meaning you’ll have access to six save states per game.

As usual with Evercade cartridge collections, all three games will come on a single physical cartridge and a plastic clamshell case (numbered #40 with the red console spine) and also include a full-colour manual. These carts will be playable on all Evercade systems, including the original handheld, Evercade VS, EXP, and HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket consoles.

With this being a “Giga Cart”, Evercade’s newest large memory cartridge, the SRP for this collection will be £22.49, $24.99, or €24.99 when purchased individually.

Tomb Raider Collection 1 will also be available bundled with the latest refresh of Evercade’s hardware lineup, the Evercade VS-R and Evercade EXP-R. These consoles are also due for release on July 31st, 2024, and are available to pre-order from April 30th, 2024.

The addition of Crystal Dynamics as a partner with Blaze Entertainment for licensing means that another AAA gaming developer and franchise is to be published on Evercade, continuing the commitment to providing great physical gaming releases of classic titles alongside modern-retro indie gems and arcade greats. As the Evercade ecosystem continues to grow, more great names from gaming are excited to join this line-up. This is the first collection released with Crystal Dynamics, and we look forward to bringing more collections very soon.

”We are beyond thrilled to announce our partnership with Crystal Dynamics to bring Tomb Raider cartridges to the Evercade platform,” said Blaze Entertainment CEO, Andrew Byatt. “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in bringing one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time to Evercade. Tomb Raider is a hugely important game series to add to our platform and further expands our growing library of amazing titles from retro eras.”

“We are huge fans of Blaze Entertainment and knew they would be a great partner to bring classic Tomb Raider games in a fantastic retro package on Evercade,” said Franchise General Manager, Dallas Dickinson. “We can’t wait to see fans enjoying the collection when it launches on July 31st, and to see a new generation of gamers enjoy a full retro console experience.”

Notes
Evercade was first released in 2020 as a handheld device with ten gaming cartridges of classic console licenses. Since then it has grown to two other hardware devices (listed below) and now has over 50 physical cartridge collections and over 500 games across the entire ecosystem.

The Evercade EXP handheld gaming system is available globally, whilst stocks last and includes the IREM Arcade 1 cartridge collection and 18 built-in Capcom games. This product is now discontinued and replaced by the Evercade EXP-R.

The Evercade VS home console systems are currently available worldwide from Amazon and other local retailers, while stocks last. This product is now discontinued and replaced by the Evercade VS-R.

Evercade devices play games via emulation on bespoke cartridges. These physical releases play the games contained and come in a physical case with a full-colour manual, custom written by Blaze with controls, hints and tips, and interesting facts about the titles and developers.

Evercade emulates a wide range of systems (including 8, 16, 32, and 64-bit consoles, handhelds, THEC64, and Amiga home computers, and arcade games), as well as natively run games, and also highlights modern retro games created by indie developers, with support for five decades of gaming.

Evercade cartridges have three distinct colour schemes to highlight their content. Red-coloured boxes feature home console collections from multiple systems across five decades of gaming. Purple indicates Arcade game collections and Blue is for home computer collections.

In 2023, Blaze Entertainment launched its new brand HyperMegaTech! to provide more retro gaming products aimed at a more casual market. The first two products, the Super Pockets also come with Evercade cartridge compatibility.
