Staffordshire, England - 4th October, 2004 - veteran entertainment software publisher Elite® and Twentieth Century Fox today announced a global agreement granting Elite rights to develop and distribute a game for mobile devices based on the AvP franchise. Elite® will launch the game in conjunction with the impending theatrical release of "Alien vs. Predator".
The AvP franchise was first launched through comic books and then established on the video game console platform, proving to be widely successful with fans of both the "Aliens" and "The Predator" properties.
"There has been an ongoing debate with fans on which is stronger, faster , smarter - an Alien or a Predator," said Leighton Webb, Vice President of Wireless Entertainment for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising Division. "The vision for this game is to let fans choose a side and play as an Alien against a Predator or visa versa, with game play that is a flat-out, no-holds-barred fighter,"
"The Alien from the benchmark 1979 movie was to my mind one of the theatrical icons of the 20th Century" said Steve Wilcox, Managing Director of Elite®. "The Predator, which first appeared in its own movies a few short years later, was similarly impressive. For Elite® in conjunction with Fox to have the opportunity to bring together these fantastic characters in a mobile entertainment experience is a real honour and a treat."
The iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, battle each other on Earth for the first time on film. The discovery of an ancient pyramid buried in Antarctica sends a team of scientists and adventurers to the frozen continent. There, they make an even more terrifying discovery: two alien races engaged in the ultimate battle. No matter who wins, we lose.
