Game Composers Unite With Original Retro MIDI Album CANVAS CITY

SAN DIEGO - April 30, 2024 - Scarlet Moon is pleased to present CANVAS CITY, an original album featuring the beloved SoundCanvas synthesizer that defined much of the videogame soundtrack soundscape in the 1990s. In addition to releasing the music in high-quality formats rendered directly from the SoundCanvas hardware, the original MIDI data is also being made available for fans on Bandcamp. Featured artists include George "The Fat Man" Sanger--renowned for his work on Wing Commander, Maniac Mansion, The 7th Guest, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, and many more--alongside Dale North (Wargroove 2, Dreamscaper, Wizard of Legend), Peter Reid Jones (RWBY animated series), Hunter Bridges (Game Director and contributing composer on Penny's Big Breakaway), and many other amazing talents from the Scarlet Moon community. "The SoundCanvas was first introduced to the world in the early ‘90s, and would go on to inspire generations of music makers," notes artist and album co-producer Jordan "Jamphibious" Reed. "Small yet powerful, the SoundCanvas features a wealth of quality sounds, features, and effects that can be used to bring countless musical ideas to life. CANVAS CITY features 17 fantastic compositions created using a variety of SoundCanvas units. Some of us grew up using these units since day one, others have only began exploring their wonders in recent years but were nevertheless inspired by their use throughout our favorite media. Regardless, this album shows the timeless influence of the SoundCanvas by bringing us all together, creating new music to share with the world."
